Ellis Faas Look #2 purple smokey eyes

This is the look I wore to my friend's birthday party last night. I know, cellphone pictures...but I was in a rush (you know, work, zumba practice that makes you soak in sweat, getting ready and all that jazz).
This was a super charged purple smokey eyes look, with an super beautiful bronze/gold inner corner. Again, I have used Ellis Faas eyeshadows for this, and I have charged the lower lashline a lot because of my eye shape. If I don't do this, my hooded eyelids becomes droopy, so yay for a charged lower lashline.

PRODUCTS USED

Ellis Faas E114 - Bordeaux Red
Ellis Faas E303 - Bronze
MAC Trax (transitioning from the bronze to the purple // transizione tra il bronzo e il viola)
Illamasqua Vernau (above the crease, softening the blend // poco sopra la piega, per sfumare)
MAC Honey Lust + Illamasqua Stealth (brow bone)
Soap & Glory Archery eyebrow marker & pencil
Bourjois Volume Glamour Max mascara

Hope you enjoyed it. Have a nice weekend

Spero vi sia piaciuto. Buon weekend.

Review: Soap & Glory Hocus Focus

A very long while ago now, I received this product for reviewing purposes. I know I have been a bad blogger recently, but I have so many products that I want to review and so little time on my hands that sometimes it takes months to review something.

Anyway, Hocus Focus was a new product when I went to Dublin in September and it immediately grabbed my attention as it is marketed as
An INSTANT visual flaw-softening lotion with long-wearing LIGHTSCRAMBLE™ lumisphere technology that mixes mica light-diffusing powders with high-tech encapsulated soft focus pearls and leaves the wearer looking ‘candle lit’ and ready to glow!
Its specially blended luxury skin smoothing emollient complex gives a beautiful silky sensual feel and sheer look to the skin, whilst helping to lock moisture in too. It softens, smoothes and illuminates the skin, just where you need a little soft focus.
You can really use this product to reduce the appearence of large pores and uneven pigmentation (says on the package, wrinkles as well, but I don't have any wrinkle, so I can't comment on that), and it will work very well. You can put it straight on your face, after you have moisturized your skin, or you can also mix it with your foundation for a candle-lit, glowing effect.
What it does is reflecting the light due to its perlescent particles, diffusing a lovely iridescence on your face, and destracting the eye from imperfections.
Also this is an extremely good highlighter! That's my favorite way of using it: as a highlighter on my cheekbones, browbone, cupid's bow.
The consistency is rather liquid and runny, and it appears as a dense white rose lotion with a pretty iridescence to it. It also has a gorgeous smell.

Soap&Glory Hocus Focus retails for £ 12 and comes in a 30 ml-sturdy-glass-bottle. I really think it will be a great alternative to Benefit's highlighters (especially if you find them to be too shimmery) and for a half the price. You can never go wrong with Soap & Glory. Here is another hit!

Have you tried this product? Let me know what you think of it in the comments below.

Soap and Glory's Sit Tight - my thoughts

(I apologize for the pic I used - found through google - but I am still unpacking and trying to sort out things in my tiny old room, so bear with me)

Oh yes, this post was long overdue, and now I finally have little time to write it.

I received this something like 2 months ago maybe, to try and review. Sit Tight is the ultimate product for all 9 to 5 workers who just sit on a chair for 8 hrs, and for the "beautifully lazy" women who want to look good with barely any effort. The claim is, in fact:

The exclusive sit-released firming system is loaded with caffeine (at a level between 27-33%) which is known for its extended lipolytic, firming and draining actions.

The friction/heat generated by the user during the act of sitting acts as a release mechanism to trigger increased movement of the product to the lower body areas most affected by fatty tissue buildup.

With the addition of DETOXYBOOST, an active shown to help healthy circulation, a daily massaged-on application of Sit Tight helps to stimulate more efficient movement of fluid.

We would recommend rubbing Sit Tight onto your thighs vigorously each morning, as massage is well known to help move excess fluid build-up.

Now, as I had to spend lots of hours sitting on my desk, doing my research for my thesis, I could really use extra help beside going to the gym 3x week.
However, due to the fact that I am firm enough already, I couldn't see much of a change. I mean, yes, I could feel quite firm after using it, but I think this will work more evidently on people whose body is not so firm.
In addition to that, after some time the weather started to get seriously hot here in Sardinia and I couln't stand the MASSIVE heating sensation you feel after application.

I still have half the tube there, so what I will do is pass it on to my fellow blogger Olivia (over Confessions of a Makeupholic, check her out) and she will try it and write a post as a guest blogger here. Our bodies are completely different, and she is not a gym goer so I do think there is a chance she might beneficiate from this product more than I did.

Oh and I want to make something clear, cos I read too many posts that were a bit misleading about Sit Tight: SIT TIGHT IS NOT AN ANTI-CELLULITE PRODUCT. IT IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOUR SKIN FIRM, THEREFORE DO NOT EXPECT CELLULITE REDUCTION.

It is just for firming, ok?

Have you tried this product?, what do you think about it?

Saturday night's makeup - Peacock fever...

It literally took me ages to upload these pictures! I hate my connection!!! Anyway, this is the look I sported last night: dinner out with a friend, and then I chilled with my boyfriend!

I have recently purchase two headbands, as I am regaining my title as the headbands queen (if you want to see my collection, just tell me) - Could I leave this unique peacocky cuteness in the store? Hell no! If you can't see it properly, it has a huge white feather, a smaller peacock feather, and a crochet flower.

The weather was gloomy, cold, and rainy, so I have decided to go for dark teal (I'm not really into grey makeup) - bright, but dark at the same time.

Products used:

FACE
Revlon Colorstay foundation
Eyeko 3-in-1 cream
KIKO Sun Bronzing Trio in Highlighting Coral (love!!!)

EYES
KIKO Sun Mousse e/s in Sea Green as a base
Dark teal e/s from the Sleek Jewels palette all over the lid and blended into the crease
Very light blue e/s from the Jewels palette on the inner corner
Light and bright teal e/s from the Sleek Curious palette
Teal and gold fine glitters (although my camera failed to pick them!) from the KIKO Coloursphere duo in 211
Matte teal e/s from the KIKO Coloursphere duo in 211 blended into the crease over the shimmery Sleek teal
Vanilla e/s from the Sleek Curious palette as a highlighter
Eyeko Graffiti eyeliner pen in black
KIKO lash boost treatment mascara
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Soap&Glory Arch de Triumph on my brows

LIPS
MAC Creme d'Nude lipstick (love!!!)

Gosh, I hadn't realize I used so many products before! LOL

Hope you like it...what did you wear, and what did you do last night?
What do you think of peacock accessories?

PS I know I should have completed the look with a black kohl on my waterline and maybe false lashes, but I was in a rush.
And yes, I finally got the hang of how to put false eyelashes on, and I really hope I can master the art and post some pics of makeup with false lashes on soon ;)

yesteray's makeup

Please excuse my lack of posts lately, I am super busy with my thesis.
Anyway, yesterday's makeup was just a purple matte smokey eye, with a little bit of sheer lipstick and pink blush. The first picture was taken after my boyfriend covered me with kisses (aaawww) so you can't really see the blush. Anyway, the main feature was the smokey eye:

Review: Soap and Glory's The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser

Final round of my Soap & Glory reviews: The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser (save the best for last!)

The picture above shows the usual cute packaging: the product comes in a 100 ml's tube with very fancy graphics.
Its consistency is that of a very thick cream, which you are supposed to cleanse your face with, in circular motion for at least 60 seconds (however, you can leave it on for a few more minutes allowing the natural oils to infuse into the skin)
After that, you must remove the cleanser from your face with a hot muslin cloth that is provided with the cleanser (which is 100% cotton, for those of you who are afraid of allergies). I say "must", because if you don't use the muslin cloth it is nearly impossible to remove the cream, and the product does not do its job.

The claim is that this cleanse, smooths and melts away any make up. Is this true?

Definitely yes! My skin condition has improved a lot since I have started using this (almost a month now), as it has a deep purifying natural formula that cleans my skin, shrinks my pores (like nothing else I have tried before), heals blemishes, and smooths the skin surface.
It is suitable for all skin types, as it does not dry out your skin, unlike most deep purifying products! I don't even feel the need to put moisturizer on, when I use this.

To say that I am in love with The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser is an understatement!
I love how it really shrinks the pores on the apples of my cheeks! My skin looks radiant and healthy now, and I am afraid I will have a withdrawal syndrome when I run out of it!

I'm never been one to stick to natural products only, because it's very hard to find cleansers or moisturizers that suit my particular skin type. Mostly, I only use products from Vichy or La Roche-Posay, which are very expensive and contain loads of chemicals (they work, so I don't really care!). Therefore, you can imagine how impressed I was when I realized that this product has lots of natural ingredients and only costs £9,00!

Main ingredients are:
Essential Oils – Orange, Lavender, Clary Sage and Rose Geranium
Conditioning Oils – Sweet Almond, Cocoa Butter, Coconut
Panthenol
Vitamins

So overall, this is one of the best skincare products I have ever tried, and I recommend it to everyone, especially to those with a normal skin (not dry, nor oily) that has problem areas, large pores, and are prone to break out. It is particularly effective, and will improve your skin from first usage!

xoxo,
Lydia

Cheerful Orange FOTD

Yes, my skin looks pale (camera flash!) and one eye looks smaller than the other because I only got 4 hours of sleep, but something hit my mailbox yesterday, and I really wanted to try some of the items right away!
Excuse the poses, and if you think I look like a head with no neck, just know that I was wearing a scarf, and I couldn't be bothered by taking it off (by the way, it's an original Pashmina my father bought and gave me for Easter. I was impressed, as he hadn't bought anything for me in...10 years? Now I always wear it, LOL)!

Mostly, I just wanted to show you that, despite my initial thoughts, people with brown hair and light coloured eyes can pull off orange lipstick without looking like a crazy lady, or someone who forgot the 80's are over from 20 years! ;)

Yep, I'm going to rock the Cheerful Orange look this summer! Of course I will put more effort on the eyes, I just wanted to try a new matte shadow from KIKO ;)
So, here's the look:

Products used:

FACE
Revlon Colorstay foundation in Sand Beige (I think?!)
Some old Lancaster orangy blusher, dusted very lightly
Eyeko 3-in-1 cream

EYES
KIKO Coloursphere Matte&Pearly e/s in 211 verde acqua/ottanio - matte shade tapped all over my lid and blended in the crease, and pearly shade pressed on with my finger right in the middle of my lid. No base underneath and I haven't packed a lot of shadow. I was lovely in person!
Soap&Glory Arch de Triumph to highlight my brow bone
KIKO 30 days lash booster treatment mascara
KIKO False Lashes Concentrate on top of that
Illamasqua cream eyeshadow in Amour on the outer corners, inner corners, and lower lashline as a liner

LIPS
KIKO Red Emotion Satin Lipstick in 203 Cheerful Orange (hence the title!) - I am in love with this by the way. Creamy, matte, awesome coverage and moisturizing!

Review of the new products will be up soon

KIKO and Soap & Glory products have been sent to me for consideration. I earned no monetary compensation, I am not an affiliate of any of the two brands.

Review: Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss

As you know already, I was sent some products from Joanna over Soap&Glory. Along with the two awesome products I have already reviewed, she sent the Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumping Gloss Gift Set.
This set contains 3 lip plumping colours (Nude, What a melon, and a transparent one with glitters, which I didn't bring with me in my parents' town so I can't remember the name), and all of them are really sheer, which I love because they just give a hint of colour. The glittery one has very fine glitters that reflect the light rather than turning you into a discoball. Classy!
The formulation is very thick (and very sticky, so I would not suggest wearing this on a windy day or if you have to kiss someone eheheh) and gives that super sexy "wet" mouth effect.
It is a very long lasting lipgloss, and you can still detect traces of it if you drink and even eat!
As for the plumping effect, let me start by saying that I am not usually a fan of plumping glosses. This does tingle a bit, after 2 or 3 minutes you put it on, but the tingling does not last ages.
I think what gives the illusion of bigger lips is actually the consistency of the lipgloss, and the tingling effect is just some sort of placebo that forces you into thinking you're getting plumped lips.
However, I really love all of these glosses, for they consistency and for the shine they add to my lips. Again, I love the fact that they are sheer, because I'm not a huge fan of bright colored and glossed lips, they look a little too fake to me.

Now, on to some photos:

they look scary in the tube, but you'll see from the swatches that they are sheer
Shades are Nude, the transparent glittery one, and What a Melon (nice name, by the way!)

I am a huge fan of details. Can you see the golden glitters on?

Shades are as shown above, Nude, Glittery one, What a Melon

close up of the glittery one. They are very very fine, see how gorgeous it is? Just enough to reflect the light.

What a Melon on my lips - natural light

The set retails for £ 17, 50 which I think it is a very good value for the money for 3 lipglosses! Especially when they contains 7 ml of product, and most of the high end ones contain 5ml or less and they really work the same way as Sexy Mother Pucker!

My vote is 4.5 on 5 (just cos it's very very sticky and my boyfriend hates it eheheh) and I do recommend this product!

Have you ever tried Sexy Mother Pucker? What is your opinion on its plumping effect?

Soap & Glory sent this set to me for reviewing purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation for it, and I do not work for, nor am I an affiliate of the brand.

Reviews: Soap and Glory's Arch de Triumph and Hair Supply

Some weeks ago, I was contacted by the super-friendly Joanna, PR for Soap&Glory, who offered to send me some products after reading my review on The Fab Pore mask.
When I opened the package I received, I found that - much to my pleasure - Joanna selected four different products for me from different ranges: hair care, skin care, and cosmetics.
What I will review now are 1 hair care product, and one cosmetic product (the lip plumpers' review is scheduled for this week, whereas I want to use the skin care product for another week or two, just to ensure my review is as accurate as possible).

Hair Supply - gloss giving radiance and repair
mask treatment for all hair types

As usual, packaging is uber-cute. Pink and white, great vintage images, and funny descriptions.
The first thing I have to say about this mask is that its smell is simply amazing. It makes me want to wash my hair just to smell it, and after I get out of the shower I feel like I have just gotten out of my salon!
The consistency is that of a thick cream/gel and you can leave it a minute if you wash your hair everyday, or 3-4 minutes for a weekly treatment. Now, I have very fine, long hair, therefore I don't wash my hair everyday, and I have only tried the 3-4 mins option.
It really gives radiance and gloss to your hair, and also it helps repairing it, and keeping it protected from heat. It does not weight down the hair at all. However, I think it is not a substitute for your conditioner. In fact, if I only use this after my shampoo, my hair turns thick and hard, and difficult to comb. I would highly suggest you use conditioner before this mask, and then you will be fine.
I do recommend this product, if your hair lacks shine and if you want to experience that lovely smell each time you wash your hair - it's like aroma therapy to me!

Arch de Trimph - shaping and highlighting brow crayon

This is a two step shaping and highlighting crayon. One end is the eyebrow pencil, which the perfect color to get both a natural look, or a more dramatic one (if you build it up). Consistency is not too creamy, which is good in my books, as I don't really want to look like I've been drawing my brows with a marker!
The box comes with some eyebrow stencils in the back, which I personally don't find useful at all.
At first I thought it was a good idea, but after trying them I think that they are not the right way to shape your brows.
The thing I like the most about this, is the highlighter end. It is the perfect dupe for Benefit's high-brow pencil. So creamy and soft, yet so longlasting! Sometimes I use it on my lower waterline to create the illusion of bigger eyes, and it looks awesome!
I highly recommend this product, which I now use everyday!

Hair Supply retails for £ 6,00 (200 ml tube)
Arch de Triumph retails for £ 7,50

So far, I really love Soap&Glory, and I think they should start selling online, because too many people in the world are missing out on so many great products.
What's your experience with this brand? Have you tried any of these two products?

Disclaimer: Soap&Glory sent me these two products for reviewing purposes. I am not paid to give my opinion, and I am not an affiliate of the brand.

Face of the (yester)day

This is the look I sported for my friend's graduation(not the one in the picture), yesterday.
I wore a blue and black dress (although you can't really see it...it's lovely), so my makeup was based on those colors.

This is once I got home, extremely tired and sleepy. LOL
