Review and swatches: Illamasqua matte powder eyeshadow in Vernau, Sex and Burst (Human Fundamentalism SS2012)

In my previews post I talked about the new Human Fundamentalism collection from Illamasqua, and told you I would have had some reviews coming up.
I will start with review of the powder eyeshadows in this collection; all of them have a matte finish, and let me start by saying that all of them have a lovely vanilla-ish scent to them.

This was the first time I tried the powder eyeshadows from this brand, and I found them different from most matte I've tried so far.
They are not chalky, but they are not creamy either. Their consistency is what prevents them from having the typical fall-out you experience with mattes (even some amazing ones).
Their color pay-off is also peculiar: at a first application they do not come up super strong (still, strong enough to be very visible), but they are so buildable that blending becomes natural, and you honestly need just one type of brush to get whatever effect you want.
I love the packaging, which never hurts, considering these eyeshadows are expensive - at £ 15,00 each - but if you are considering a splurge, I can honestly lead you towards Illamasqua rather that (shhh...overrated!) MAC.

I will let the swatches speak for themselves now.

MAC.

Ma ora lascio parlare gli swatches:

I could not capture the green hues of this blue/green - non sono riuscita a fotografare i sottotoni verdi di questo ombretto, scusate

Pure white - when used lightly it is the perfect highlighter

beautiful, versatile ochre.
