Review: KIKO L.E. Electric Town (picture heavy!)

Hello everyone, and let me start this review by thanking all my new followers. It is much appreciated!

Now on to the actual review, and this time it is about one of KIKO's limited edition collections, called Electric Town. Electric, as in vibrant, light and dark, city chic!
The items I was sent from this collection:

Eyeshadow quad in 02 Omotesando Beige (perfect match for my eyes):
Four stripes of colour that range from very light to very dark, enabling you to create several looks: soft or dark smokey eyes, or neutral to "no make-up" make-up.
I love this palette, and I have been using it for weeks now. It is the only palette I brought with me away for the holidays (by the way, I will show you were I was in a separate post). Even my mother, who hasn't been worn make-up in ages, wanted to swatch it!
The eyeshadows in this palette can be worn dry for a soft effect, or wet for a super bright and super shiny effect (and the texture becomes satin to shimmery!). If you apply a primer underneath, the intensity of the colours will be in between those two options.
I took a picture of swatches with these three options.
As you can see from the picture above, the packaging is also divine! It looks so expensive, and even the box is too cute to be thrown away (I'm such a sucker for details that I never throw away nice boxes!).
Now, let's get the swatch-arama started:

Top to bottom:
e/s applied over a primer;
e/s applied dry and with no base underneath;
e/s applied wet, no primer.
Photo taken with natural light

Soft Touch Blush in 02-Pearly Pink Kiss,
Urban Look eyeliner and khol in 08-black,
Unlimited Lipgloss in 08-Rose,
Ultraglossy lip pencil in 08-Rose (not pictured, sorry!)

I'm sorry I couldn't take a good swatch of the blush, which is the item most of you were curious about. It is very sheer on my skin, as it's one of their "pearly" shades. Since the formulation is that of a powdery mineral baked blush, and the stripe in the middle is made of fine shimmers, you can use this as a translucent powder as well.
So far, I have used this over a bright pink blush, to soften its edges and give a natural look to it. And I love it. Once again, the packaging is stunning!

The retractable black pencil, as you can see from the swatches below, is a true khol liner. Its black is very rich, and very easy to work with. It is so soft that it can be smudged and softened with the little smudger sponge at the end of the pencil. And there's a sharpener underneath it too!
What I love about it is that it is so creamy and soft, yet it's waterproof, so the rich black color will last ages around your eyes and on waterlines, without budging. Winner!

The ultraglossy lip pencil is, as its name suggests a lip liner pencil with a glossy texture. It is very creamy and glossy. It's like glossy lipstick in a pencil form, something that reminds me of Barry M's lip laquer crayons.
What makes the KIKO one special is that it smells like...cherry, I think? Well, anyway it's perfumy. I like that, but unfortunately the shade I was sent does not match my complexion.

The Unlimited lipgloss is awesome! It is not sticky, it is sheer, it moisturizes your lips and stays put for a long time. Not 6 hours as KIKO claims, but it does last long.
The shade I was sent is such a gorgeous sheer nude, that can be worn alone, or over a darker lipstick to tone it down a bit. It also contains very finely milled golden pigments.
I really love this, especially its moisturizing effect!

swatches in natural light:
Urban Look eyeliner and khol normal and smudged,
Ultraglossy lip pencil in Rose,
Unlimited Lipgloss in Rose underneath.

Now, if you'll excuse the poor quality of the pictures I took with my shaky hands, you will see the subtle smokey I created using the quad dry with no base underneath. These shades are perfect for light coloured eyes!

The Electric eyeshadow palettes retail for € 13,50
The Soft Touch blushes retail for € 12,90
The khol pencil retails for € 5,90
Ultraglossy lip pencil for € 5,20
and lastly, Unlimited lipgloss retails for € 7,20

So what do you guys think of the Electric Town collection?

  4. Thank you all girls!
It's crazy how much my eyes change with natural light. Flash and artificial light tend to bleach them a lot, not to mention that my hand is very shaky when I have to take pictures of my own self! :S I need a tripod!

I love the palette by the way, it brings out the best colour for light eyes!
