REVIEW || Nars All Day Luminous Weightless vs Sheer Glow

So, over the past week I've been testing two different foundations from Nars: the much hyped and talked about All Day Luminous Weightless and one of the brand's classics, namely Sheer Glow. 

So far, I still have mixed feelings about the new All Day Luminous Weightless. However, my mind is pretty much set when it comes to describe Sheer Glow. 

All Day Luminous weightless is a high coverage foundation with a thin texture. It has a satin finish, and you just literally need the smallest amount to cover your entire face (I had a sample in a jar, but if you buy the foundation, I guess one pump is even too much), thanks to its striking pigmentation. It supposedly contains pigments that counteract redness, and as a person with red marks from acne on her face, I can pretty much testify to this being true.

As far as longevity goes, I would say it stayed put, but it definitely needs to be powdered, possibly at least twice a day, as it tends to grease. It hasn't travelled around my face, as some other reviewers have experienced (tip: shake well before use, because the product tends to separate), but it gets into the pores on my cheeks and emphasize them - which is something I truly detest. 

As I said, the texture is very thin for such a high coverage foundation, but it is visible nevertheless. 

All in all, there are things I do like about it and some others that I don't. I would not recommend this just because it retails for 43€ and that is way too much for a foundation you don't love everything of. 

That being said, I find All Day Luminous to be the best liquid foundation Nars has launched up to now. I had great expectations about Sheer Glow, as many youtubers I love have always sworn by it. 

Well, I've hated it. The only plus side I've found for this foundation is the shade range, but then again, it is common to every other foundation from Nars. 

It travelled around my face even if well powdered (I've tried MUFE HD, and Mac MSF Natural. Plus, I've started using Guerlain's Météorites on top of it all too); it lasts 4 hrs tops; it gets into pores; it gets really greasy...need I say more? 

The picture below doesn't really do this disaster justice, but you get my drift. Bourjois foundations are ten times better, for a fraction of the price. 

Just out of curiousity, am I the only one who has had problems with Sheer Glow? Why do people swear by it?

Chi mi segue su Facebook saprà sicuramente che durante tutta la scorsa settimana mi sono data al test dei fondotinta Nars. Ho testato il nuovo All Day Luminous Weightless, di cui si parla molto, e il tanto decantato Sheer Glow. 

L'All Day Luminous Weightless è un fondotinta ad alta coprenza, con una texture sottile ed un finish satinato. Per via della sua elevata pigmentazione, basta pochissimo prodotto per coprire tutto il viso. Io avevo un campione in jar, ma chi ha comprato il fondotinta necessiterà probabilmente di una sola erogazione, e forse meno. Suddetta pigmentazione contiene degli elementi profondamente gialli per contrastare i rossori. Da persona che ha dei segni rossi dati dall'acne ormai trascorsa, posso testimoniare che è tutto vero e che questo fondotinta copre benissimo i rossori. 

Per quanto riguarda la durata, non è altissima ed ha bisogno di essere incipriato perché tende a lucidarsi. Tuttavia non mi son ritrovata il prodotto raggrumato il varie parti del viso, com'è successo ad altre blogger, però mi si è messo nei pori dilatati che ho sulle guance e li ha enfatizzati a dir poco - una cosa che io detesto assolutamente. 

Il mio parere su questo fondotinta è abbastanza contrastante. Ci sono cose che mi piacciono e altre che non mi piacciono davvero. Ragion per cui mi sento di sconsigliarlo, visto che il suo prezzo è di ben 43€ (almeno in Francia) e per quel prezzo ci sono altri fondotinta che amiamo nella loro totalità. 

Detto ciò, trovo che sia comunque il fondotinta migliore del marchio Nars, visto che avevo aspettative elevatissime per lo Sheer Glow, ed invece sono stata molto delusa. 

Non ho punti positivi per questo fondotinta di cui per anni ho sentito tessere le lodi dai miei youtuber preferiti, se non la gamma di colori - che però è comune a tutti i fondotinta della marca. 

Si sposta dappertutto nel viso pure se viene incipriato (e non con cipriette, stiamo parlando di MUFE HD, MAC MSF ed in più le Météorites di Guerlain sopra la cipria), e dura al massimo 4 ore. Si infila nei pori enfatizzandoli; diventa lucidissimo e ha un transfert assurdo. 

Penso che la foto poco sopra non renda giustizia al disastro spaventoso che è questo fondotinta, e tuttavia credo che la differenza tra i due si veda. Per quel che costa, è meglio perfino comprare fondotinta da drugstore. I fondi Bourjois, ad esempio, sono buonissimi e costano un terzo.

Sardinian Sunset || look du jour

 It was a sunny day in the east of France, so I wanted something warm to decorate my face. I looked at my palettes, and some colors reminded me of the warmth of my homeland's sunsets. I could not pass along the opportunity to honor my roots. This make-up will look incredibly good on tanned skin. This make-up will look incredibly good in Sardinia. 

E' stata una bella giornata di sole nell'est della Francia, perciò volevo qualcosa di caldo per decorare il mio viso. Ho dato un'occhiata alle mie palette, alcuni dei colori mi hanno ricordato il calore dei tramonti della mia terra. Non potevo farmi sfuggire l'occasione di onorare le mie radici. Questo trucco sarà benissimo sulla pelle abbronzata. Questo look sarà bellissimo in Sardegna.

A Narcissist look

Before I left Sardinia to move back to France, my friend Marta was kind enough to offer to take some pictures with her fancy camera. Unfortunately, I was so late on the schedule (no s*it, really?!) that the sun went down when we got out, so we had to shoot indoors. Moreover, Facebook damaged the quality of the pictures, so y'all have to bear with me on this one. 

As these were taken back in October or maybe November, I cannot remember the products I've used, but I know that they were all eyeshadows from the Narcissist 15 eyeshadow palette from last year, and an Illusion d'ombre from Chanel. The mascara is Grandiose by Lancome, while I'm pretty sure the foundation was 1 2 3 Perfect by Bourjois. 

Everything else, I'm not sure of.

Prima che lasciassi la Sardegna per dirigermi verso la Francia, la mia amica Marta è stata così gentile da offrirsi di fare delle foto con la sua fotocamera "iperpiù" (sì, lo diciamo solo io e mio fratello). Sfortunatamente io ero talmente in ritardo sulla tabella di marcia (ma va?!) che il sole è tramontato quando siamo uscite, perciò abbiamo dovuto fare le foto in un interno. Per di più, Facebook ha diminuito la qualità delle foto, quindi insomma...accontentatevi, ecco! 

Siccome queste foto sono datate nientemeno che fine ottobre o novembre, non ricordo proprio che prodotti ho usato, giusto che gli ombretti son tutti presi dalla Narcissist dell'anno scorso, il punto luce è un Illusion d'ombre di Chanel, il mascara è il Grandiose di Lancome, e il fondotinta è quasi sicuramente l'1 2 3 Perfect di Bourjois. 

Di tutto il resto, non sono sicura.

I think you know that by now, but I am useless when it comes to photography. 

None of these pictures do justice to what Humid really is, or the make-up I wore for that matter. 

Nevertheless, I can't keep being a bad blogger, so when you look at the pictures, just imagine that Humid is more vivid green, kind of like the one from a glass bottle. Enjoy anyway.

Penso che ormai lo sappiate, sono un'inetta quando si tratta di fotografia.

Nessuna di queste foto renderà giustizia alla bellezza di Humid o del trucco che portavo, se è per quello.

Narsissist Cheek Kit by Nars: first impressions.

Two days ago, I ventured on the Sephora aisles with a friend. The idea was not buying anything, the result was my first Nars purchase ever.

As expensive as it is, I am very happy I bought the Narsissist Cheek Kit, as it was a limited edition and it is proving to be a great multi-purpose kit.

Basically, as its name suggests, it's a tiny cheek palette with a bronzer/contour powder, a blush, and a hightlighter. What's more, it comes with a travel size cheek brush, which is very soft and just the right size to pick up those three products.

Rapidly, this palette has become a staple in my daily routine.

Due giorni fa mi sono avventurata con un'amica per i vari stand di Sephora. L'idea era quella di non comprare nulla, il risultato (come potete ben immaginare) è stato il mio primo acquisto Nars.

Nonostante il costo piuttosto esoso, sono davvero contenta di aver comprato questo kit - Narsissist Cheek Kit, perché è un'edizione limitata, ma si sta rivelando un bel prodotto multi-funzione.

In pratica, come suggeritoci dal nome, è una mini-palette contenente un bronzer/terra contouring, blush, e illuminante. Inoltre, incluso nel set c'è anche un pennello guance, davvero molto morbido e della misura ideale per prelevare i tre prodotti.

Molto velocemente, questa palette sta diventando un must della mia routine quotidiana.

I don't know if you've recognized them all, but the kit includes some best sellers, namely Orgasm blush, and Laguna bronzer, and a limited edition highlighter called Devotee. 

Some bloggers complained about this choice, stating that Nars put Laguna and Orgasm in every kit. However, it was a good thing for me, and for all the Nars newbies out there. You have the chance to try three products for the price of one full size blush, and seeing how the hype around the bronzer and the blush always enables compulsive buys, you can get a good deal. 

Non so se li avete riconosciuti, ma nel kit sono inclusi dei best-seller, come il blush Orgasm e il bronzer Laguna, più un illuminante in edizione limitata: Devotee.

Alcune blogger si sono lamentate di questa scelta, affermando che Nars mette Laguna e Orgasm in ogni kit. Tuttavia questa è stata una buona cosa per me e per tutte le neofite di Nars. D'altronde si ha la possibilità di provare tre prodotti al prezzo di un blush, e viste tutte le lodi su questo bronzer e su questo blush ci fanno sempre desiderare l'acquisto compulsivo, è un buon modo di fare un mezzo affare.

Laguna Bronzer - looks darker in reality

As you can see, you have everything you need to create a perfect base. Laguna has the most subtle sheen (it's almost mat, in fact) and is not as orange as many bronzers, therefore you can easily use it as both a bronzer and contouring powder. Orgasm is just one of the prettiest blushes I have ever seen. A tad darker than Stereo Rose by MAC, and a little warmer maybe, but it is a great coral with golden flecks in it. The downside is that it accentuates pores a little bit (or maybe my skin is just acting up). Devotee is a pink-beige highlighter which gaves you a wonder glow.

Laguna and Devotee can also be used as eyeshadows to create a very soft, yet effective (thanks to Devotee in the inner corner) everyday look. Paired with either Blacktrack fluidline, or a golden brown eye pencil (something like MAC Powersurge, maybe?), this will be very sophisticated.

This makes the kit a great choice for travelling on weekends. All you need then, would be a choice of colored lipsticks and you will go from day to night without any effort.

Come potete vedere, avete di tutto per creare una base perfetta. Laguna ha davvero una luminosità appena accentuata (è quasi opaco, infatti) e non è arancione come tanti altri bronzer, il che lo rende adatto ad essere utilizzato sia come bronzer che come terra da contouring (ovviamente non so se sarà così d'estate perché mi abbronzo molto). Orgasm è uno dei più bei blush che io abbia mai visto. E' un po' più scuro del mio amato Stereo Rose di MAC, e forse anche un tantino più caldo, ma ad ogni modo è un bellissimo corallo con particelle dorate. La nota negativa può essere il fatto che accentui un tantino i pori (o forse la mia pelle sta facendo la cattiva). Devotee è un illuminante rosa-beige che conferisce una meravigliosa luminosità.

Laguna e Devotee possono essere anche usati come ombretti per creare un look quotidiano molto discreto, ma efficace (grazie a Devotee nell'angolo interno), Insieme al fluidline Blacktrack, o una matita dorata/marrone, può davvero essere sofisticato.
E' proprio ciò che rende il kit una bellissima scelta per i viaggi del fine settimana. A quel punto, avete bisogno solo di portar con voi un po' di rossetti colorati e potete creare dei look da giorno e da sera senza il minimo sforzo.

 I'll tell you my two cents about the Nars powders: to the touch they are not buttery soft, yet the pigmentation is very good and also buildable. The fact that they are not too soft in consistency, allows for less fallout. You will see that some powder will deposit on the packaging, but it won't be too much, and it'll allow you to see how finely these powders were milled before they got pressed. I yet have to taste their longevity with different products. They aren't as longlasting as my Illamasqua blushes on the Bourjois CC cream, but I'll report back. I will enclose swatches as soon as the weather allows me to take good shots. 

Overall, I think this was a very good purchase for 39 euros, which isn't your typical "deal" budget (and neither is mine), but I'm convinced it will be an yearly investment, rather than a 20 euros purchase each month because you grew tired of a mediocre-quality product.

Vi dico un po' la mia opinione sulle polveri Nars: non sono super vellutate al tatto, tuttavia hanno una buona pigmentazione e sono modulabili. Il fatto che non siano troppo morbide di consistenza, fa sì che le polveri volino meno. Vedrete un po' di polvere depositarsi sulla confezione, ma non sarà molto, e vi permetterà di vedere quanto fossero fini prima di essere pressate. Ancora devo testare per bene la durata con diversi prodotti. Per ora posso dire che non sono longeve come i miei blush Illamasqua sulla CC di Bourjois, ma vi dirò di più in futuro. Vi farò anche gli swatches non appena il tempo lo permetta. 

In generale, penso sia un buon acquisto per 39 euro, che apparentemente non è il tipico budget da affarone, ma son convinta sia un investimento annuale, piuttosto che 20 euro mensili per un prodotto di qualità mediocre che vi stufa.

Collective French haul and first impressions

Over these five months I've been living in France, I have not just worked, eaten exquisite food, and drunk some lovely wine (and ridiculously expensive beer). I've also managed to succumb and buy some make-up and skincare products that I had no access to in Italy. 

I was mostly fascinated with the world-class drugstore make-up brand Bourjois (apparently, Chanel's little cousin), especially for their base make-up offerings. Also, I was very happy to find great skincare for all skin types that are easily accessible in the numerous parapharmacies across town. Last, but not least, it's been great to have two Sephora stores where I live, which lead me to make my first ever Nars purchase. 

Here is what I've got so far: 

In questi cinque mesi di vita francese, non mi sono solo dedicata al lavoro, alle scofanate squisitezze culinarie, e al buon vino (e anche alla birra a prezzi improponibili). Sono anche riuscita a soccombere alla tentazione e dedicarmi agli acquisti frivoli sia di make-up che di skincare, soprattutto di tutti quei prodotti ai quali stando in Italia non avevo accesso. 

Sono stata più che altro catturata dalla celebre Bourjois, marca di punta francese (che a quanto pare è la cuginetta di Chanel) per quanto riguarda i prodotti di grande distribuzione, in particolar modo dalla loro ampia gamma di prodotti per la base. Inoltre, sono stata ben felice di scoprire tutti quei bellissimi prodotti per la cura di qualsiasi tipo di pelle, facilmente reperibili nelle numerose parafarmacie della città. 

Ultimo, ma non meno importante, il fatto di avere ben due Sephora in città, mi ha portata a commettere un grande crimine contro il portafogli e fare il mio primo acquisto Nars. 

Ecco cos'ho accumulato in questi mesi:

 Bioderma Sébium Global moisturizer for acne-prone skins. Still testing this, but it looks like a good product. It is mattifying, and seems to be working well. I also like the travel-friendly packaging. Oh, and its price too - it's moderate.

Bioderma Sébium Global crema per pelli a tendenza acneica. La sto ancora provando, ma sembra un buon prodotto. Opacizza e sembra funzionare bene. Mi piace anche la confezione che non occupa molto spazio. Ah, e il prezzo - moderato.

Bourjois: random discontinued nail polishes, random discontinued lipsticks, Effet 3D Max lipgloss,  123 Perfect CC cream. The nail polishes are meh. They absolutely do not last 10 days. Glad they only cost me 2 euros. The lipsticks are overall nice, but some of the cheapest KIKO lipsticks would perform the same way - although the packaging is so chic, and one of the colors I got will be awesome for spring (if it ever comes here) and summer. The lip gloss is quite amazing. It smoothes out your lips surface and shines a whole lot without being overly sticky. I am not sure they still sell it, because I got all of these products at an outlet. The CC cream is very, very good. Expect a full review on it soon. 

Bourjois: smalti e rossetti vari usciti fuori produzione, gloss Effet 3D Max, CC cream 123 Perfect. Gli smalti sono mediocri. Non durano assolutamente 10 giorni. Per fortuna li ho pagati 2 euro. I rossetti nel complesso sono molto carini, ma i meno costosi da KIKO sono più o meno uguali - anche se il packaging è così chic, che me ne sono innamorata, e per di più uno dei due colori che ho preso sarà fichissimo in primavera (sempre che qui arrivi) ed estate. Il gloss è veramente favoloso. Liscia la superficie delle labbra ed ha un bell'effetto vinile senza essere troppo appiccicoso. Non sono sicura che lo vendano ancora, perché tutti questi prodotti li ho comprati in un outlet. La CC cream è davvero molto buona. Ne farò presto una recensione completa.

 

Erborian Gingseng BB Cream. I bought the travel size because the full size is freaking  way too expensive, and a little goes a long way anyway. I tried this last year (thank you, Sephora girls in Nancy, for providing samples) and I loved it. It lasted a lot under the extreme weather conditions of summer in Sardinia, and I was also happy with the coverage. If you scroll down my Instagram feed, you'll find a picture of me wearing it. It speaks for itself, I think. 

Erborian BB Cream al Gingseng. Ho comprato il mini-formato, perché quello grande è veramente troppo caro, e ad ogni modo ne basta veramente poca. La provai lo scorso anno (grazie, commesse di Sephora, per i campioncini) e la adorai. Resistette davvero bene anche alle condizioni meteo a dir poco estreme dell'estate in Sardegna, ed inoltre rimasi soddisfatta della coprenza. Se vi va, potete fare un giro tra le mie foto di Instagram e lì vedrete una foto in cui la porto, che credo parli da sola.

Gosh Brow Kit. This one product deserves a full review. Great value for the money. Contains three different powders, and a brow wax. If you are a brow fiend, then you need this in your life. 

Gosh Brow Kit. Anche questo prodotto merita una recensione tutta per sé. Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Contiene tre diverse polveri e una cera. Se siete ossessionate dalle sopracciglia, non può mancare nel vostro beauty.

Narsissist Cheek Kit. Expensive, but a great purchase nevertheless. It comes with a travel size brush, which is not bad at all. I am going to post a separate "first impressions" article on it, because it was limited edition, and if you can still find it, I suggest you get it immediately. 

Narsissist Cheek Kit. Caro, ma un buonissimo acquisto. Il kit contiene anche un pennello da viaggio, che non è per niente male. Scriverò un post di prime impressioni solo su questo prodotto, perché è in edizione limitata e se non l'avete ancora preso, è il momento giusto.
