Urban Decay Naked 2 palette

I gave in. After lusting over both palette for ages, and talking myself into not buying any of them because I have too many eyeshadows already, I gave in. 

I hesitated for a few minutes, thinking of which one I should have chosen: Naked or Naked 2? Donatella, being her professional self helped me right on: Naked 2. A good mix of cool and warm-based neutrals. 

Ho ceduto. Dopo aver passato secoli a sbavare dietro entrambe le palette e convincermi che non dovevo comprarne nessuna perché ho già troppi ombretti...ho ceduto!

Ho temporeggiato un po', indecisa fra le due: Naked o Naked 2? Allora Donatella, da professionista mi ha subito dato il suo parere: Naked 2. Un bel mix tra tonalità calde e fredde in colori neutri. 

In general, this palette is more functional than its previous version: for the same price, you get a much better packaging, a double ended brush (one side is useless for powder products, in my opinion) and a lipgloss (tiny, but the cap is precious).

Tutto sommato, questa palette è molto più efficiente della sua versione precedente: per lo stesso prezzo, si ha una confezione di qualità infinitamente migliore, un pennello doppio (una delle due estremità è un po' inutile per i prodotti in polvere, secondo me) e un gloss (minuscolo, ma il tappo è troppo bello).

The following picture has a higher saturation level, but the coolest colors are displaying pretty truthfully. For more a more accurate view of the warmer shades, please refer to the second picture, where I have lessened the saturation level.

La foto seguente ha un livello di saturazione più alto, ma riprende bene i colori freddi. Per una visione più veritiera delle tonalità calde, vi prego di riferirvi alla seconda foto.

I am not going to write a full review on this palette, as the web is filled with them already.

We already know that Urban Decay equals quality (at least in regards to eyeshadows), great color pay off, high blendability, gorgeous shades. 

Hopefully, I will be able to capture the beauty of these shadows in action for futre fotd's.

Non vi farò una review di questa palette, perché la conosciamo ormai tutti e il web ne è pieno.

Sappiamo già tutte che Urban Decay è sinonimo di qualità (almeno per quanto riguarda gli ombretti), una resa di colore invidiabile, sfumabilità eccellente e colori meravigliosi.

Spero di riuscire a catturare la bellezza di questi ombretti in azione per i prossimi fotd.

FOTN: Alchemic Misdemeanor

I apologize for the lack of FOTD posts lately, but ever since I moved to another house I don't have the right space and the right lighting to take such pictures.
Hopefully, the situation will change in September, when I move out again, and I will be living in a nice apartment on the 5th floor (right opposite my work place) where I get a lot of light during the day time.
In the meantime, enjoy the look I sported last night, while I was at a rock concert with a couple of friends and my brother.
I opted for a greyish green smoky eye, with some speckles of blue. Such an unusual color that only Urban Decay produces (as far as I know): Misdemeanor. Now, pictures do not do it justice, but I promise I will replicate this when I move to my new place and I can take a decent shot.
It was much more smoked out and also darker.
And of course, eventhough I used one of the darkest shades of foundation around, SPF + Flash washed out my face. Enjoy the difference in shade between my visage and my neck...

Urban Decay Get Baked Palette - review and swatches

 A while ago I was sent this Urban Decay Get Baked palette in an International Swap with Michelle from Lipstick Rules.
Lara (if you are Italian, then you may know her under the name Chienkiri on Youtube) was interested in a review, so here it is.
This is how the palette looks like in its packaging. It comes with a mini size of Primer Potion in Sin.

 This is the actual packaging, which I find really stylish. But then again, most Urban Decay products are :)

 This is the real size of the palette, just in case it looks big in other pictures. It's not.

 This is a lousy swatch of Primer Potion in Sin on my hand. It's a champagne colored primer and it is a bit shimmery, but nothing too forlorn.

And here is the open palette. As you can see, there are four eyeshadows and a travel size of their 24/7 glide-on pencil in bourbon, which is one of my faves ever!

And here are the swatches of the shadows and the eye pencil.

I love Urban Decay eyeshadows for they are buttery soft and incredibly blendable. 

I have to say, their texture is amazing. They don't just sit on your skin. They merge with it. 

Baked is the one shadow that really grabs your attention: it's a bronzy gold shade and it is so powerful! 

I find this palette to be very versatile for both summer and winter, what do you think?

To be honest with you, I have no idea how much this retails outside the US - and especially here in Italy, I don't know its price as I do not have a Sephora store near me. 

Guess you'll just have to check that, or try ebay ;)

Teal eyes, orange lips look

I went out last night and I was wearing a teal dress, so I thought why not mix teal on my eyes with orange on my lips?
It's so summery and makes me think of a more classy version of the 80's makeup ;)

As per usual, my face has been bleached out by the camera flash. Thank you, light reflectant foundation! One day I will get someone else to shoot pics for me, because I've noticed that the farther you get, the more realistic the skin tone is. In real life, I am waaaaaaaaaaaaay more tanned. And I am darker than that even without a tan (I have a yellow undertone!)

Some looks from my friend's graduation

this is the makeup I wore in the morning, when my friend graduated.
It is very neutral, with a flicked liner. I like neutral and matte or satin looks for cerimonies.

You may notice I look weird here. My eyes reflected light so much that it looks like I have no pupils in my eyes :S
