Review: Clarins Eclat du Jour

I purchased this moisturizer by Clarins in May after hearing so many people rave about it.
Well, I guess all those raves were right. Eclat du Jour is now my favorite moisturizer ever!
Yes, it's true that it is very expensive (20€ for a 30 ml jar) but it leaves your skin looking gorgeous. It is supposed to be a line for younger skins, but it works perfectly with my skin needs.

Ho acquistato questa crema di Clarins a Maggio, dopo aver sentito tantissime persone tesserne le lodi.

Beh, penso proprio che tutte quelle lodi fossero meritate. Eclat du Jour è ora la mia crema preferita!

Sì, è vero ch'è molto cara (20 € per 30 ml), ma mi lascia la pelle fantastica.

Dovrebbe essere una linea dedicata alle pelli giovani, ma per le necessità che ha la mia pelle va benissimo.

I bought the "dry to normal" version, which has a thicker consistency (the "combination" Eclat du Jour comes in a gel - gélée - formulation). Nevertheless, it left my skin supple, luminous, refined, and cleared out some imperfections. It has never left my skin greasy, even when our temperature here reached 30 degrees (Celsius, that is).

Ho comprato la versione per pelli "da secche a normali", che ha una consistenza molto più densa (quella per

pelli "miste" ha una formula più simile al gel e non per niente

si chiama Eclat du Jour Gélée), Ciononostante, ha reso la mia pelle rimpolpata, luminosa, molto più rifinita nella grana, ha tolto di mezzo alcune impurità. Non ha mai 

lucidato, nemmeno quando le temperature qui hanno raggiunto i 30 gradi. 

This moisturizer comes in a glass jar which is very heavy and not really handy if you are a bit sloppy, or if you want to bring it with you on a trip. Then again, on the bright side the jar format allows you to use up every ml of the product. I just wish it were made of plastic.

Per quel che attiene il packaging, Eclat du Jour è contenuta in una confezione di vetro con il tappo ad avvitatura. il che non è l'ideale se voete portarla con voi in viaggio, oppure semplicemnte se siete un po'

maldestre. 

Ad ogni modo, questo formato ha anche il suo vantaggio, perché vi permette di usare ogni millilitro di prodotto. 

Però vorrei che lo facessero in plastica.

Longevity-wise, one jar covered a little more than 2 months for me.

La durata di una confezione è stata di poco più di due mesi nel mio caso.

Bottom line is, this moisturizer is fantastic, and I seriously think it would work wonders on every skin type.
Probably the only things that put me off are the price, and the glass jar. Everything else is to die for, smell included.

Clarins, I hereby declare my faithfulness and endless love for you.

In definitiva, questa crema è fantastica e penso seriamente che possa essere ideale per tutti i tipi di pelle.

Probabilmente quello che un po' mi frena dal riacquistarla subito è il prezzo e la jar in vetro. 

Tutto il resto è bello da morire, compresa la profumazione.

Clarins, qui ti dichiaro la mia fede e il mio amore infinito.

I forgot to mention that this moisturizer does not contain a heavy dose of junk ingredients. On the contrary, its ingredients list is quite "safe". What are the odds to find a moisturizer, sold in perfumeries, which is really active and does not contain junk?


Ho dimenticato di dirvi che l'inci di questa crema non contiene una marea di schifezze, tipiche delle creme da 
profumeria. Al contrario, direi che l'inci di questa crema è abbastanza "sicuro".

Complexion Perfection Review: Clarins Skin Illusion foundation (fondotinta)

Back in the spring, Clarins launched a new foundation called Skin Illusion.
I will skip all of the details that you can find on their site (I had already wrote an informative post when I received the press release related to it) and focus on my experience with this foundation.

Consistency
Rather airy. Very light-weight, but not overly fluid, nor too dense. I really love it.

Consistenza

Molto leggera, non troppo fluida, né troppo densa. A me piace tantissimo.

Yes, I am so lazy that I always forget to put my hand cream on. I have very dry skin on my body!

Coverage
I'd say this foundation has a medium coverage. If you have spots, you will need to dab a little over them to disguise them completely, but in general, it does a very good job hiding everything, pores included!

Coprenza

Direi che la coprenza di questo fondotinta è media. Se avete brufoli, dovrete picchiettarne un pochino sopra per mascherarli per bene, ma in generale è davvero un buon fondotinta per nascondere le imperfezioni,

pori compresi!

How its texture results on the skin
I have to say, I love it. It gives a satin finish, so you get a luminosity without being shiny, and it mattifies just enough not have your t-zone become greasy. Definitely a gorgous effect on the skin.
I have also been told it looks very very natural, almost as if I weren't wearing any foundation and it was just my skin that looked flawless.
So for 32 - 34 € a bottle, this is definitely something worth the splurge.

Io devo proprio dire che adoro la texture di questo fondotinta. 

Ha un finish satinato, quindi otterrete luminosità senza che lucidi, e opacità 

quanto basta per non fare ingrassare la zona T. 

Decisamente un effetto meraviglioso.

Mi è stato anche detto che sembra veramente tanto naturale, quasi come se non avessi nessun 

fondotinta addosso e quella fosse semplicemente la mia pelle, perfetta.

Perciò direi che per 32 - 34 euro a boccetta, sono davvero tanti soldi, ma ben spesi!

No break-out or pore obstruction was noticed in 2 months of regular use. Within those two months of regular use, I only finished 60% of the product, which is also something to take into account when buying your high-end foundation.

Non è comparsa nessuna eruzione cutanea e non ha ostruito i pori in 2 mesi di utilizzo regolare.

Durante quei due mesi di utilizzo regolare, ho finito solamente il 60% del prodotto, e penso che questo sia

un fattore da prendere in considerazione quando si decide di acquistare un fondotinta

di marca.

Bottom line is, Clarins never fails in satisfying me.

In definitiva, Clarins non smette mai di soddisfarmi. Chiedete un campione

da Sephora e provate per credere: mi ringrazierete in seguito!

FOTN: Alchemic Misdemeanor

I apologize for the lack of FOTD posts lately, but ever since I moved to another house I don't have the right space and the right lighting to take such pictures.
Hopefully, the situation will change in September, when I move out again, and I will be living in a nice apartment on the 5th floor (right opposite my work place) where I get a lot of light during the day time.
In the meantime, enjoy the look I sported last night, while I was at a rock concert with a couple of friends and my brother.
I opted for a greyish green smoky eye, with some speckles of blue. Such an unusual color that only Urban Decay produces (as far as I know): Misdemeanor. Now, pictures do not do it justice, but I promise I will replicate this when I move to my new place and I can take a decent shot.
It was much more smoked out and also darker.
And of course, eventhough I used one of the darkest shades of foundation around, SPF + Flash washed out my face. Enjoy the difference in shade between my visage and my neck...

As you could tell from the picture (and from the title) I am going to review some items from the latest Clarins' collection, called Rouge Prodige.

Come potete vedere da essa (e dal titolo) questa sarà una recensione sull'ultima collezione di Clarins, che chiama Rouge Prodige.

Clarins is a brand I have always relied on for special occasions: I have worn their make-up for job interviews, my boyfriend's graduation, MY GRADUATION, and whenever I do that, I get compliments.
Whenever I want to be perfectly chic, I wear Clarins.

The Rouge Prodige Collection hasn't disappointed me. Now, first off, the collection is named after their new lipsticks (€ 22,00 - although you can find them for less in some stores). Yes, the ones you see in all of these pictures, with that luxurious, golden, mirror-like packaging.
The formulation of these lipsticks contains a polymer patented as "High Fidelity Pearl", which (long story short) is extremely pigmented and ensures durability.
The Rouge Prodige lipsticks have rich texture that also provides hydration.
I am talking about real hydration, not a SENSATION (make-believe) of hydration given by paraffin. That means that you will not feel a cream film on your lips, but just softness.

La collezione Rouge Prodige non mi ha delusa.
Questa collezione è stata battezzata col nome dei nuovi rossetti (€ 22,00 - anche se è possibile trovarli a meno in alcuni negozi), gli stessi che vedete in tutte le foto, con quel packaging extra-lusso, dorato e specchiato.
La formulazione di questi rossetti contiene un polymero brevettato come "High Fidelity Pearl", che (per farla breve) è estremamente pigmentato e assicura una lunga durata.
I rossetti Rouge Prodige hanno una texture ricca che idrata.
E parlo di vera idratazione qui, non di una banale SENSAZIONE (cioè una falsa idratazione) d'idratazione data dalla paraffina.
Questo significa che non si avverte un film di crema sulle labbra, ma solo morbidezza.

They will polish the lips, even the most partched, and lasts long (long to me is even 2 - 3 hours, because I often drink, and being a teacher I talk a lot and lipsticks always fade).
They contain a list of top quality ingredients, and have a gorgeous raspberry scent!

Levigano le labbra, anche le più disidratate, e durano tanto ( tanto per me significa anche 2 o 3 ore, perché io bevo spesso e poi, essendo una professoressa, parlo tantissimo e il rossetto mi va sempre via).
Contengono una lista di ingredienti di qualità e hanno un bellissimo profumo di lampone!

116 - 121 = Coral - Red / Corallo - Rosso

Every woman should find a suitable shade among these! (and yes, I have realized they are missing the 115)

There is also another product that has been sent to me: the Instant Blush (€ 18,00) (LE).
Containing vitamin E, sunflower oil, and wax, this magic blush is a cream that reacts to your own skin, changing its shade to adapt to everyone's skintone.
How gorgeous is that?
It is the perfect blush on every occasion, plus it is also the perfect blush you want to carry with you at work, or on a trip.
Compact, and creamy you will be able to apply it without a mirror, just by tapping your finger on the apples of your cheeks.
I always use this when I do my make-up on the train (hello, early morning commuting!)
I thought it was useless to swatch it, as it reacts differently on everyone's skin, but look out for my fotd's as I often wear it.

C'è anche un altro prodotto che mi è stato inviato: L'Instant Blush (€ 18,00).
Contiene vitamina E, olio di girasole e cere, ed è un fard in crema magico, che reagisce a contatto con la pelle, cambiando tonalità per adattarsi alla tonalità di pelle di ognuno.
Quant'è stupendo?
E' il fard perfetto per ogni occasione, soprattutto da portare con sé al lavoro, o in viaggio.
Compatto e cremoso, è facile da stendere anche senza specchio, solamente picchiettando il dito sul pomello delle guance.
Lo uso sempre quando mi trucco sul treno (w i pendolari!).
Ho pensato che fosse inutile fare uno swatch, perché reagisce in maniera differente su ogni pele, ma guardate i miei fotd's perché lo uso spesso.

There is another product that has really caught my eye in this collection, which is the Palette Prodige, a gorgeous compact powder palette, consisting of 5 different colours that can be used all swirled together or singularly to sculpt your whole face (including the eyes).

Teal eyes, orange lips look

I went out last night and I was wearing a teal dress, so I thought why not mix teal on my eyes with orange on my lips?
It's so summery and makes me think of a more classy version of the 80's makeup ;)

As per usual, my face has been bleached out by the camera flash. Thank you, light reflectant foundation! One day I will get someone else to shoot pics for me, because I've noticed that the farther you get, the more realistic the skin tone is. In real life, I am waaaaaaaaaaaaay more tanned. And I am darker than that even without a tan (I have a yellow undertone!)

fotd: dramatic blues and green

Hello lovelies,
sorry for the lack of posts, but I have been busy moving back to my place for university and all.
Anyways, I've tried this look today.I saw this look on a TiffanyD's tutorial on Youtube and I had been wanting to do it for ages.
Now that I have the Sleek Acid palette I can do it whenever I want....Obviously mine's not as pretty as hers, because I don't have a blending brush (ordered mine today from e.l.f.), but it's a good start and I will definitely try this again with proper brushes.
I wanted to put falsies on, but obviously I can't get the hang of putting them on...how do you girls do it? I never seem to make it!!!

last picture is not so pretty, but at least you can see what it is like a bit. Kind of 60's style with Urban Decay inspired colors.
I hate my camera. it's so hard to get good self-pictures with it.......

"Dolly look" using the Sleek Acid palette

Here is a simple look using the lovely shimmery fuchsia in the Acid palette.
You will have to excuse me if the picture is not great, but somehow my little digital camera has an aweful flash that ruins every look I do when I take pics under the neon lights I have at my parents' home.
Anyway, it's kind of a "Dolly look", and I think it is very pretty for those who have blue, green or grey eyes. Pink really highlights those colors (although my picture really doesn't do it justice).

For this look I used:
The lightest peachy color in the Clarins' Nature Temptation palette (on the lid and on the brow bone)
The lovely shimmery pink on the Sleek i-Divine Acid palette (on the corner of my lid, then blended onto the crease, right above the crease, and on the lower lashline)
A Pupa shimmery black on a limited edition palette (as the eyeliner, and blended on the lower lashline)
A Revlon black eyeliner pencil on the waterline
Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara.

products I love/use part II

Pupa Smart Skin Foundation in 04
This is the only foundation that really matches my skin tone!
Also, it is great if you have a mixed complexion.
It has a mattifying action, but doesn't create that mask effect
and it has a full coverage.
I guess it is the greatest foundation I've ever worn. I've tried many others, but I've always come back to it.
It is also very affordable.

Collistar "Unghie Perfette" (perfect nails) nailpolish in Glittery Purple
I've loved this nail polish this winter!
It was limited edition, but I hope they will become part of the permanent line.
It had so many glitters on it, and the color was a dark super cute purple!
Also it is very long lasting and you don't need to wear a top coat on it.
If you can get a hold on this (or any other by this italian brand), please do!
You won't be disappointed!

Rimmel London Sexy Curves mascara
Oh now...Diva's Lashes by Pupa used to be my favorite mascara...until I found SEXY CURVES!
This is an amazing product.
This little brush that you think wouldn't hold any product...is simply brilliant!
It does hold product, and...well I don't know if it is the formula or the brush - possibly both
however, it curls your lashes like they were fake!
I love it! My lashes appear to be so curved, black, long and full...
It is the best product from Rimmel so far...I totally love it, and so do pro make up artists..
therefore, two thumbs up for the cheap mascara with a great payoff!
And two thumbs up for Rimmel this year!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish lipstick in "Temptation"
which is that awesome red you see on the right...it is a little bit lighter when you wear it.
Another great product from Rimmel. It's the shade of red I've been looking for all fall...and what I've been wearing all winter on my nights out :D
You know, I used to hate Rimmel, but this year it released so many great products that I've started to love it (minus the Lasting finish Mineral foundation, which is too "buttery"-like and give you a mask effect ... at least on my skin type and tone).
They really improved the payoff of their products, anyways.

Jane Iredale PureMoist lipstick in Emily
Which I couldn't find a picture of, but since it has become one of my fave lipsticks
you'll definately see it in pics I'll be posting and make-up tutorials that will soon come.
It is a glossy,shimmery, beige...
The texture of these lipsticks is fantastic...it really has a moisturizing effect.
Also, if you suffer from any allergy you can rest assured these products won't give you any.
All Jane Iredale's products are mineral and 100% allergy free.
Also, if you care about the environment and animals...they're 100% cruelty free, not tested on animals, and natural formulae... (I'm also currently using a base shadow by J.I. and I'm waiting to get some others, they're good!)
Plus, isn't the packaging classy?! Definately worth the price!

Pupa Plastic Shine Baked eyeshadow in 04 - Purple
Now this is another amazing product.
You can wear it wet or dry, the wet version is a little bit darker and "marker"-like...awesome!
The dry version is a little bit more pearliscent...The color pay off is great, and it is long lasting.
Unfortunately it is a limited edition color...I really wanna get my hands on the fucsia one too!!!

Pupa Luminys Baked eyeshadows
They are all amazing. the best eyeshadow that has ever been released!
Dry, the colors are shimmery and some of them are a little sheer
Wet, they're all darker and ultrashimmery.
I have the black one, and the one at the bottom left...it is a beige-gold...awesome products!

Pupa Polvere di Luce Duo
I guess they don't make this anymore :(
great packaging, carrying two powders: one is the actual eyeshadow, very pearliscent, and the other one is a glittery powder that gives light wherever you wear it. it is awesome!

I have these two shades (minus the lipgloss)...they're great...very pigmented, pearliscent powders....easily blended and all.
Great products, although they're not making it anymore (they're all about baked eyeshadows now) you can still find it in some stores....

No MAC cos they don't sell it here, but these are all great products nevertheless.
Maybe when I go back to London or Canada I can buy some MAC, if I'm not on a budget.
However, there are lots of other brands I wanna get a hold on when I go back to London. I'll make a wishlist ;)

Anyhoo...these are the products I use and love! I didn't wanna take pictures of my stuff and post them, cos I'm in my dorm room and this connection takes forever to upload anything. I'll use pics I find on the net instead. This is why sometimes I couldn't find my exact colors.
