Review: The Body Shop Honeymania collection

The new collection from The Body Shop, called Honeymania, consists of a bunch of products made of organic honey from Etiopia, and I have not enough praises for it.

I have always loved TBS for their body butters, and they did not disappoint me. Honeymania has the most amazing, elegant, smell ever and nourishes my skin deeply (it contains Shea and Cocoa butter as well). 

I love the shower gel as well, and the lip balm leaves my lips well hydrated. My only problem with it is the packaging, because I absolutely detest balms that do not come in tubes.

I really recommend the body butter as it will last you ages, and it retails for € 15 only.

La nuova collezione di The Body Shop, chiamata Honeymania, è composta di prodotti fatti con miele bio proveniente dal commercio equo in Etiopia, ed io non posso che amarla.

Mi son sempre piaciuti i burri corpo di TBS, e questo non è da meno. Honeymania ha un profumo fantastico, elegante e nutre in profondità (contiene anche burro di karité e di cacao). 

Mi piace anche il gel doccia, e anche il balsamo labbra è buono ed idrata. Il mio unico rimprovero riguarda il packaging, perché in generale detesto i balsami labbra che non sono in tubetto.

Consiglio caldamente il burro per il corpo, perché oltretutto vi dura mezzo secolo e costa solo 15 euro!

The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream

So back in mid-September, I think, The Body Shop came out with their All-in-One line, which features the latest must-have beauty product on the market: a BB cream. 

Now, let me just warn you: all of those western BB creams are nothing like Asian BB creams. And I'm saying this just for the record. Western BB creams are, in fact, more like tinted moisturizers with color-adapting particles. Some of them are richer then others, some of them have more coverage, some of them contain SPF and some do not...but all in all, they're nothing like Asian BB creams.

Verso la metà di settembre, The Body Shop ha lanciato la sua linea All-in-One, al cui interno è possibile trovare l'ultimo must dei prodotti di bellezza: una BB cream.

Ora, lasciatemi dire che nessuna delle BB cream occidentali ha niente a che vedere con le BB asiatiche. Lo dico per onor di cronaca. Le BB occidentali, infatti, son più delle creme colorate con delle particelle di pigmento che si adattano al colore della pelle. Alcune di queste BB sono più ricche di altre, alcune hanno più coprenza, altre contengono un SPF ed altre no...ma restano comunque lungi dall'essere come le originali BB asiatiche. 

With that being said, when I tried this Body Shop BB Cream, I was pleasantly surprised. I can say I've never been a big tinted moisturizer consumer, mainly because I am very specific about my moisturizing routine, but I love the way this one makes your skin look: glowy (the non-greasy type), healthy, does not enlarge pores.

But let me tell you how this thing work: it is basically a white moisturizer with some tiny little capsules that, when crushed onto the skin, release pigments that will adapt to your skin color. Bear in mind, they appear to be a half shade darker than your actual skin tone, but it's nothing like a wrong shade foundation. 

Detto ciò, quando ho provato la BB cream di The Body Shop, son rimasta piacevolmente colpita. Posso ben dire di non essere mai stata la più grande consumatrice di creme colorate del mondo, principalmente perché ho una routine di cura per la pelle veramente specifica, ma devo dire che mi piace molto il risultato di questa BB sulla mia pelle: è molto luminosa (ma non grassa), dall'aspetto sano e non allarga i pori. 

Ora vi spiego un po' come funziona: in pratica è una crema bianca che contiene delle minuscole capsule che, schiacciandosi a contatto con la pelle, rilasciano dei pigmenti che si adattano al colore della pelle. Tenete però presente che appariranno un mezzo tono più scure del vostro colore naturale, ma niente di così terribile come può essere un fonditinta del colore sbagliato.

The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream comes in 3 shades (so I guess the capsules adapt to 3 different range of skin types), and has a practical plastic tube that you can squeeze until the last drop and bring with you without carrying any weight. 

It retails for € 16,00 and I think it is very much worth the price, as a little goes a long way and it is perfect for transitioning periods (summer to fall, spring to summer, and all the tanning process in the summer).

La BB Cream All-in-One di The Body Shop viene venduta in 3 tonalità (perciò immagino che le capsule si adattino a tre gamme diverse) ed è contenuta in un pratico tubetto di plastica che potete spremere fino all'ultima goccia, nonché portare con voi senza che vi pesi troppo.

Ha un prezzo di € 16,00 - che penso valga, visto che ne basta davvero poca ed è perfetta per i periodi di transizione (tipo dall'estate all'autunno, dalla primavera all'estate e tutto il processo di abbronzatura graduale durante l'estate). 

PS: obviously, this product does not offer a good coverage. For that, I'm afraid, you'll have to use a foundation or a concealer.

PS: ovviamente questo prodotto non offre una buona coprenza. Per quello, ho paura che dobbiate usare il fondotinta o il correttore.

Review: The Body Shop Chocomania

St. Valentine's at the Body Shop was chocolicious, or rather, Chocomaniac!

Worry not, the chocolate that you can indulge in without gaining any weight is still available.

Now, I want to share my opinion with you, in case you're wondering if you should make the purchase or not. 

San Valentino da The Body Shop quest'anno era Chocomaniac!

Non temete però, il cioccolato che non fa ingrassare è ancora disponibile. E a questo proposito, oggi vorrei condividere con voi la mia opinione su questa collezione, nel caso l'aveste già addocchiata e stiate pensando se comprare qualcosina o meno.

Firstly, I'm going to talk about the Chocomania Soaps that come in a pack of four for the price of € 5,00 or a single one (100 gr) for € 2,50.

These heart-shaped soaps (you can see one pictured above) are fantastic! They contain microbeads, they have a very pleasant and light smell, and they leave your skin super soft. Definitely worth the money. 

Prima di tutto, vi parlerò delle mini saponette Chocomania, che vengono vendute in pacchi da quattro a € 5,00 oppure la versione da 100 gr per € 2,50.
Queste saponette a forma di cuore (potete vederne una nella foto sopra) sono fantastiche!

Contengono microparticelle esfolianti, hanno un profumo leggero e piacevole e lasciano la pelle morbidissima. Vale decisamente la pena di provarle!

CHOCOMANIA BODY SCRUB/ ESFOLIANTE CORPO (€ 15,00)

Not the best sight ever, but definitely the best smell and feeling. It definitely leaves your skin soft, smooth and supple.

Cons: rather pricey, but all body scrubs are, generally, so I would rather invest in something whose effect is comparable to Bliss!

Non è tanto bello da vedere, ma ha un profumo meraviglioso e lascia la pelle morbida, liscia e bella rimpolpata.

Contro: il prezzo, ma in generale tutti gli esfolianti per il corpo sono abbastanza cari, quindi è meglio investire su qualcosa il cui è effetto è del tutto simile agli esfolianti della Bliss!

CHOCOMANIA BODY BUTTER/ BURRO PER IL CORPO (€ 15,00) 

If only I would eat it....This body butter smells delicious! 

I love The Body Shop's body butters and this is definitely one of their bests. It is a bit harder in consistency than the rest of them, but after you rub it a little it becomes almost liquid and nourishing. 

A little goes a long way, so it will last you for ages. 

Se solo potessi mangiarlo...ha un profumo delizioso!

Adoro i burri per il corpo di The Body Shop e devo dire che questo è uno dei migliori che fanno. La consistenza è un pochino più tosta rispetto agli altri, ma dopo che lo si spalma un po' diventa quasi liquido e molto molto nutriente. 

Ne basta davvero poco per idratare grandi zone, quindi vi durerà un bel po'.

 

CHOCOMANIA SHOWER CREAM/DOCCIA CREMA (€ 6,00)

I usually can't use shower gels/creams, because they cause an irritation to my left arm, but I can safely use this, so I would say that it is a fairly good product, safe for sensitive and very dry skin. 

The only downside to this is that the smell is too sweet (sweeter than the rest of the products) and overpowering, even for the chocomaniacs like me!

Solitamente io non riesco ad usare i bagnoschiuma, perché mi causano un'irritazione (tipo dermatite) sul braccio sinistro, ma questo è un docciacrema e posso usarlo tranquillamente, quindi credo proprio sia adatto anche alle pelli più sensibili o secche. 

L'unica pecca è che l'odore è dolce (più dolce rispetto agli altri prodotti di questa linea) ed è troppo persistente, perfino per le chocomaniache come me!

CHOCOMANIA LIP BUTTER/ BURRO PER LABBRA (€ 5,00)

Smells amazing, good hydration, however it does not last long.

Also, this product is too hard in consistency to be coming in a pot. 

I would say save your money and skip this one, because it is really overpriced. 

Profumo straordinario, buona idratazione, ma purtroppo non dura. 

In più, la consistenza è davvero troppo dura per questa confezione. Ci vorrebbe uno stick, perché così è poco pratica. 

Direi di risparmiare i soldi e saltare proprio questo prodotto, perché onestamente lo trovo troppo caro per quel che è.

Review: The Body Shop White Musk Libertine - fragrance review

White Musk Libertine è l'ultima fragranza nata in casa The Body Shop: un concentrato, come dice il nome, di muschio bianco, fiori dai dolci profumi, crema chantilly e perfino legno d'ambra.
Forte, ma in maniera avvolgente, il profumo di White Musk Libertine è il paradigma della personalità femminile: un incontro/scontro tra speziato e dolce.

Personalmente, non è tra le mie fragranze preferite, nonostante ne riconosca la validità - ma per chi adora il muschio e i profumi floreali, questo è decisamente un grosso affare.
La fragranza, difatti, persiste per parecchie ore (pur essendo quello che ho provato io un eau de toilette e non de parfum), ha una boccetta senza grandi fronzoli che si può adattare benissmo alle vostre "esigenze di borsetta" (con tanto di tappo resistente!) ma anche graziosa e soprattutto ha un prezzo decisamente onesto: 15 euro per 30 ml.

Solitamente è il profumo che ora porto con me nelle trasferte o durante le serate particolari, proprio per queste sue caratteristiche.

Decisamente consigliato per: le amanti del muschio bianco, le amanti dei profumi forti, le persone che amano pagare prezzi onesti per il vero valore delle cose.


E se vi piace questa fragranza, sappiate che The Body Shop ha un'intera linea di White Musk Libertine, compresa di simpatiche confezioni regalo con tanti prodotti ad un prezzo accettabilissimo!

Review: The Body Shop Baked to Last eyeshadows and bronzers

What The Body Shop says:

Our Baked-to-Last Powders are a fusion of powder and pearl, handmade and baked on hot terracotta discs so pigments bind together, giving fabulous colour and rich coverage. With Community Trade olive oil.

The eyeshadows are described as:
A duo of dazzling shades, handmade and slow-baked for up to eight hours of deliciously rich colour. Shimmering tones for gorgeous eyes. (€ 12,00)

The bronzers are described as:
A natural-looking bronzer, handmade and slow-baked for up to eight hours of deliciously rich colour. Perfect for a sunkissed glow. (€ 18,00)

How the products look in natural light:

My thoughts:
As per usual I was not disappointed by the eyeshadow: the powder is soft and not at all chalky. I was sent Jade, which is a duo composed of a pretty green (quite peculiar, I must add) and a black with green sparkles all over. These eyeshadows are rather pigmented, but they bring out their true potential when wet. Especially the black side. You can see yourself from the swatches. It is a perfect duo for a night out.

Come sempre non sono stata delusa dagli ombretti di questo marchio:

la polvere è morbida e non sfarina. Mi è stato inviato il duo Jade, composto da un bellissimo verde (abbastanza particolare, devo aggiungere) e un nero con dei riflessi e glitterini verdi.

Questi ombretti sono molto pigmentati, ma danno il meglio se applicati con un applicatore bagnato. Specialmente la parte nera. 

Lo potete vedere da voi stessi dagli swatches. Trovo questo sia un duo perfetto per una serata in discoteca. Per un look da giorno, potete dare un'occhiata a questo che feci tempo fa: cliccate qui.  

As far as the bronzers are concerned I had a massive turn-off when I saw Golden Bronze: glitter chunks all over an "orangy" dark powder. Need I say more?
On the other hand, Warm Glow is a much better product. It is a shimmery powder with a slight pink iridescence, blends really nicely and smooths the surface of your skin. However, I don't really use it as a bronzer, as it is too light for me. I use it over my blush for some glow, or on the cheekbones to highlight. Very nice product!

Per quanto concerne i bronzer, invece, ho avuto una grossa delusione quando ho visto il Golden Bronze: pezzettoni di glitter in polvere "aranciata" e scura. Devo aggiungere altro?

D'altro canto, però, Warm Glow è un prodotto decisamente migliore. Una polvere shimmery con iridescenza rosa, che si fonde bene e liscia la superficie della pelle. Però non la uso come bronzer, bensì come highlighter o sopra i blush per aggiungere un po' di luminosità. 

Un buon prodotto.

My only gripe: the price is a bit too high for the quality (or for the quantity, as in the case of the shadows).

L'unica cosa che mi lascia perplessa è che il prezzo sia troppo alto per la qualità (o quantità nel caso degli ombretti).

The Body Shop Smoke and Fire A/W collection - review and swatches

At the beginning of October I received some products from the new The Body Shop's collection, Smoke and Fire.
Inspired by the intense and natural colors of the Earth in its changing season, and by the dark shades of the autumnal skies, this collection is all about nude/neutral lips, and smoky eyes with a glowing skin.

All'inizio di Ottobre ho ricevuto in omaggio questi prodotti della nuova collezione di The Body Shop, la Smoke and Fire.
La collezione, che trae ispirazione dai naturali colori della Terra al cambio di stagione, e dalle scure tonalità dei carichi cieli autunnali,
questa collezione è incentrata su labbra color carne/neutre, e smoky eyes
contorniati da una pelle radiosa.

CHEEK AND FACE POWDER (€ 18,00)
(pictured above, shade 01 Chestnut- pictured below shade 02, Berry)

The presentation is certainly pretty: maple leaves (I think) all over, a blend of four shimmery and highly pigmented colors that you can swirl together to use as a blusher, or they can be used individually to highlight some parts of yor face.
That's not just it, I think that these powders are so pigmented that you can use them as metallic eyeshadows! *EDIT: I have actually used them to blend Urban Decay's Misdemeanor in the crease, and it is just gorgeous!*

L'aspetto è carinissimo: foglie d'acero (penso) tutte intorno alla polvere,
una combinazione di quattro colori perlati e altamente pigmentati
che possono essere usati tutti insieme come fard, oppure individualmente per illuminare alcune parti del viso.
Non solo: queste polveri son così pigmentate che si possono usare come
ombretti metallizzati!
*MODIFICA: le ho usate per sfumare il
Misdemeanor di Urban Decay nella piega palpebrale e sono veramente meravigliose!*

These powders are also very long lasting, and my only gripe with them is, I think, that being so shimmery they are not suitable for every skin tone. I would not recommend them for people who have an oily skin. To people who (like me) have a combination skin, I would suggest an application on the sides of the cheekbones rather than on the apples.
That is because I find that the shimmers make pores appear more obvious.

Chestnut is bronzy and on the orangy side, while Berry is such a pretty plummy pink which leaves the skin looking "autumnally healthy" (yes, I made that up).

Queste polveri sono anche molto durevoli, e la sola cosa che non mi piace,
penso sia il fatto che, essendo così perlate, non sono adatte a tutti i tipi di pelle.
Non le raccomanderei alle persone che hanno una pelle oleosa.
A coloro che (come me) hanno una pelle mista, suggerisco l'applicazione ai bordi e non direttamente sui pomelli delle guance.
Questo perché trovo che le perle di colore facciano apparire
i pori più larghi.
Chestnut è un bronzo tendente all'arancione, mentre Berry è un bel rosa tendente al prugna che lascia la pelle "autunnalmente sana" (sì, l'ho inventato questo termine).

L: EYESHADOW IN 41 - PEACH; R: CHEEK AND FACE POWDER IN BERRY

The eyeshadow impressed me. Now, apart from the color, which is really cute, the consistency is lovely!
The powder is very compact, yet velvety to the touch. Great color pay-off and blendability.
Peach is so cute that it can be used as a highlighter as well.
The retail price is € 9.00 and I highly recommend this (match it with a red lippie for total gorgeousness!)

L'ombretto mi ha lasciata stupefatta. Ora, a parte il colore, che è davvero carino, la consistenza è adorabile!
Sebbene la polvere sia compatta, è vellutata al tatto. Una grande scrivenza e sfumabilità.
Peach è un colore così carino che può essere usato anche come illuminante.
Il prezzo di vendita è di € 9.00 e lo raccomendo caldamente (provate ad abbinarlo con un rossetto rosso, è meraviglioso)

EYELINER KAJAL
(L -R: Charcoal, Evergreen, Steel)

This is one of those kajals that come in a tube. It has a formulation rich in natural waxes (sourced with Fair Trade) and pigments.
Its shape is ideal to draw your liner rapidly, thick or thin, you'll always get this right. Although I wonder what the shape will be when the product will be almost over.
It is also great to smoke out your look, as the pigments are very blendable.
It retails for € 10.00 - which is a bit on the pricey side, I know, but it is indeed a nice and versatile product.

Questo è uno di quei kajal che hanno la confezione simile ai rossetti.
Il prodotto ha una formula ricca di cere naturali (reperite tramite Commercio Equo) e pigmenti.
E' ideale per contorniare rapidamente gli occhi, con linee spesse o fini, sarà difficile sbagliare.
Anche se mi chiedo che forma avrà quando l'avrò quasi finito.
E' anche un bel prodotto per fare gli smoky eyes, visto il pigmento è altamente sfumabile.
Il prezzo di vendita è di € 10.00, un po' sul caro, lo so,
ma è decisamente un buon prodotto versatile.
