How to open your Diorskin Nude bottle

You'll probably be sick of hearing me chanting odes to Diorskin Nude (click here for a review of it) whenever I post a foundation review here (because I always compare any foundation to my beloved Diorskin Nude), but I'm now going to tell you something that may shock you: Diorskin Nude has a fault! And not even a small one.

See, when you approach the bottom of the bottle, it becomes very hard to pump the foundation out, eventhough you can see there is still a lot of product in there. The little pump is either impossible to push down or only pushes down half-way. It becomes frustrating, because even if the pump cap does screw off, you can't solve the situation: you'll only end up with the cap in your hand and your pump still inside the bottle. Stuck.
The top of the bottle doesn't twist off, the bottle is made of heavy glass...although I did consider (briefly) squashing it and chopping it into little pieces (mostly out of frustration) many times, I wouldn't suggest that taking that path.

However, after reading this article on Beaut.ie, I decided to call it a day and put all the remaining foundation in jars. Now, the article says to
Remove the lid, grasp the body of the bottle firmly in one hand, and then grab the silver topper by its base (as close to the lip where “Diorskin” is embossed as you can manage) with the other.  Rock the topper – gently – back and forth as you also – gently – pull it upwards, all the while keeping a firm hold of the bottle itself.

Well, it's a bit harder than that. Unless you want to lose all your finger nails in the process, I recommend you get a knife and carefully pull the topper upwards. Very carefully, because  there is a glass neck underneath the topper, and you don't really want to chop that and create any unnecessary havoc. In order to play safely, be patient.

If the Dior beauty creators are reading this(which I highly doubt, but you know...): please make a twistable topper on the foundation. It is both goregous and damn pricey, we don't really want to waste a drop of it!

Now, in case you think the jewelry I was wearing in those pictures looks great (which I must agree on), I'll tell you all about it:
On Monday, I ended a course with one my classes in Olbia. It was definitely my favourite classes, all the students were kind, motivated and very polite. We established a great atmosphere during the months, and each class was both informative/educational and fun.
They must have liked me as a teacher, so they brought me a gorgeous gift: the necklace and earrings I was wearing in the above (and below) pictures.
I love it! They really shouldn't have given me any gift, I've just done my job (hopefully well), but it was greatly appreciated. It fills my heart in with joy, to know that they loved my lessons.

By the way, the jewelry is from Dudu Bijoux, in case you're wondering ;) (they also have a site)

Yesterday's FOTD: plain eyes and bold lips

Yesterday I wanted to be quick but effective with makeup (and I also wanted to try my new Maybelline gel liner, which I must say I'm impressed with, for now) and opted for the plain eyes and bold lips theme.
The lippie was actually a full on plummy-magenta, a bit tricky to capture with my camera.

PRODUCTS USED:
FACE:
Madina Milano Light Foundation
Diorskin Nude Foundation
Sleek Flamingo Blush (I absolutely hated putting it on with a duofiber brush. I prefer this brush for foundation)
Benefit Boiing Concealer

Maybelline Eyestudio Gel liner
Ellis Faas Mascara
Diego Dalla Palma black eyepencil

LIPS

Some looks from my friend's graduation

this is the makeup I wore in the morning, when my friend graduated.
It is very neutral, with a flicked liner. I like neutral and matte or satin looks for cerimonies.

You may notice I look weird here. My eyes reflected light so much that it looks like I have no pupils in my eyes :S
Well at least my skin was not bleached, as I took this photo with natural light.

for this look, I used:

FACE
Diorskin nude foundation
Eyeko 3-in-1 cream
MEMEME poppy tint on my cheeks

EYES
e.l.f. eyelid primer
a beige with pink undertones from the Nature Temptation palette from Clarins, on my lids
KIKO e/s in Cioccolato from the Colour Sphere Mat Duo in 201
a peachy satin highlighter from the Nature Temptation palette from clarins, on my browbone and inner corner
KIKO e/s in Mandorla from the Colour Sphere Mat&Pearly Duo in 209 dubbed on the inner half of the lids with my dry finger. Just to give a hint of shimmers
Eyeko Graffiti eyeliner
KIKO 30 days lash booster treatment mascara
e.l.f. eyebrow kit

Lips
KIKO Red Emotion Satin Lipstick in 200 Nude Rose

This is the look I wore at night, for her party:

I don't know why I can never take good pictures of browns, but trust me, it was brown and gold.
The gold particles where shimmers.

FACE
Revlon Colorstay foundation
Bourjois blush in Cendre de Rose Brune

EYES
KIKO beige rosato e/s all over the lid, and some some rosa confetto shimmers dabbed on the lid with my dry finger,
KIKO wengé blended above the crease and on the lower lashline
KIKO oro rutenio shimmers dabbed on the lid with a dry finger
Urban Decay Eldorado dabbed all over my lids and especially in the inner corners
Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencil in Bourbon on the lower lashline and in the outer corners
Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara
(and I forgot to do my eyebrows here!)

LIPS
KIKO Red Emotion Satin Lipstick in 205 Sensual Red (isn't it rich?)

FOT(yester)D - neutral beige with a blue twist

I was wearing a blue and beige ensemble yesterday, so I thought I might replicate that on my eyes.
I used a shimmery beige on my entire lid, to give it light, and 2 semi-matte colors on my crease, to try and give it more depth.
Results aren't so clear from the pictures, but I liked it.
Please, excuse one of my eyes being swallen - I don't really know what was up with it.

Different angles, as the sun was shining bright here yesterday.

Products used:

FACE
Diorskin Nude foundation in 030
Bourjois blush in Cendre de Rose Brune
KIKO soft touch blush in Pearly Pink Kiss

Face of the (yester)day

This is the look I sported for my friend's graduation(not the one in the picture), yesterday.
I wore a blue and black dress (although you can't really see it...it's lovely), so my makeup was based on those colors.

By the way, Congratulations "French"! I love you to bits, you were perfect yesterday!
now for close-ups:

yes, they get blurry when you crop them. Who knows why?

This is once I got home, extremely tired and sleepy. LOL

Eyeko 3-in-1 cream on my cheekbone as a highlighter

Gemstones inspired series - n 2: Jade

The weather was a little bit hotter today, and I had lots of wonderful new goodies to play with (from my swap).

Review: Diorskin Nude foundation

Product name: DIORSKIN NUDE (foundation)

Price: € 38,00

Description: Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup

The claims (as stated on the leaflet): "Containing nearly 40% water, this fluid foundation offers an instant sensation of well-being. Skin appears fresher, silky and feels more comfortable.
Thanks to micro-droplets of water, this foundation’s coverage is lighter than a “classic” fluid formula, and it evens out the complexion and makes it appear more radiant and transparent.
With daily use, the skin becomes more beautiful for an ever more natural and radiant result day after day."

My opinion: It is on the pricey side, true, but this foundation is amazing!
It is one of those second skin foundations (the latest trend after last year's minerals) which sets on your face without making you look cakey. It really does its job: I've never looked overly made-up, nor I have ever felt it was heavy on my skin.
It just evens out any discoloration and covers imperfections, leaving your skin to look really radiant. You look at yourself in the mirror and think: "oh, now I have a perfect skin!".
About the coverage: if this is light to them, I don't want to try the heavy one. It is absolutely perfect: I apply one very small dot on my forhead, cheeks, nose and chin and blend it in with my Sigma SS187 duo-fiber brush. The first layer is to even out my skin, then I build the coverage with a second layer, using the same amount of product. My skin looks flawless...it even hides my detested pores!!!
You really don't need much to make your face look amazing, so it will last for ages.
As for the skin improvement claim...I don't know if it is the foundation or the Normaderm treatment, to be honest, so I will not comment on that for now.

So overall, if you have some extra money, I can definitely recommend this foundation! It is fantastic. Packaging is very very nice, but also very heavy and dodgy (I pray I won't ever let it slip off of my hands because it is made of glass)...if you can call it a downside...

So...

vote: 10+/10

would I repurchase?: if I have the money to....hell yeah!!! ;)
